I am 18 years old and I am from South Burlington, Vermont. I am a freshman here at the University of New England and I am majoring in marine biology . I hope to learn everything I can about the organisms that live in the ocean and how they interact with one another. I also wish to get involved with community service opportunities that are geared toward helping the environment more often. Earlier this year  I participated in the Maine Coast Week Coastal Cleanup.

Some of my hobbies are figure skating, playing tennis, and skiing. I am planning on starting a skating club with my friend here at UNE and I am very excited about it. I am grateful that UNE allows students to take charge of their own learning and pursue their interests.

I believe that we all possess the ability to expand out knowledge base and intelligence. I also believe that you must keep an open mind when it comes to learning and growing as a person. If you don’t allow yourself to open up to new ideas and perspectives, you can’t reach your full potential. Integrating your own ideas with those of others is the best way to come up with solutions to the challenges facing us in the world today.
